Richard M Stubbs

Richard Stubbs is one of three board certified music therapists licensed in Southern Oregon. He specializes in experiential therapies such as songwriting and lyric analysis, attachment focused music therapy, and an innovative integration of tabletop role-playing games into group therapy. Group therapy is focused on building interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and problem solving skills. Richard is a certified child and adolescent trauma professional through the International Association for Trauma Professionals. He approaches trauma through the lense of attachment and polyvagal theories, meaning that a major goal of therapy will be establishing meaningful relationships with others. Stubbs Music Therapy has a strong history of client engagement in therapy as we regularly seek feedback and incorporate clients in treatment planning. The use of creative arts and unique group therapies increases client engagement and decreases attrition.
