Therapist Overview
I received a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University, Chicago, IL in 2008 and have been working as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor for ten years. I enjoy working with children and adolescents ages 5-18, adults, and families coping with concerns including ADHD, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorder, behavioral issues, co-dependency, depression, domestic violence, divorce and parenting issues. My theoretical orientation stems from a family systems approach. Especially when working with children and teens, I believe it is useful to view the child as one part of a larger system, which requires collaborating with parents and other members of the family in effort to support the client’s emotional needs. Additionally, I recognize that a direct, skills-based approach, through the use of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) empowers an individual to take ownership of his/her emotional well-being. Therapy would include teaching strategies to my clients around recognition of unhealthy behaviors along with implementing new coping tools and behavioral changes.
