Therapist Overview
As a natural helper, I have been working with a wide range of clients from adolescents and adults in both individual and group settings for over 14 years. I am deeply committed to collaborating with clients authentically to ensure that positive change can occur. I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with addiction, trauma, grief & loss, chronic pain, LGBTQ issues, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and other major mental health diagnoses. As a strong mental health advocate, I address the societal and cultural causes and solutions to issues faced in the counseling process. I use tools and techniques such as role-playing, and assertiveness training to help clients build their identity and self-esteem to the degree that they can embrace their own personal power. I am dedicated to using evidence-based practices and is pursuing training and certification in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. EMDR is one of the most researched and utilized methods in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other forms of distress connected to adverse life experiences. As a licensed professional counselor I am committed to helping live a healthy, meaningful life. It takes tremendous courage to come to therapy, and I am here to help.
