Therapist Overview
If you’re experiencing or have experienced something negative in your life that is keeping you from living the life you want to live, I know how painful and frustrating it can be. Maybe that negative experience was life threatening, like an assault or car accident. But maybe they were smaller, seemingly less significant experiences, like emotionally abusive relationships, or the death of a loved one. You may be feeling stuck in a rut, or like you’re your own worst enemy. The smallest tasks may feel overwhelming, making you feel like there must be something wrong with you. I assure you, you’re not crazy! And.. I have tools (and brain science!) to help. Using EMDR (a client-centered, interactive, cognitive-behavioral, body-oriented therapy), you’ll be able to reprocess negative events, allowing you to remember it, but not experience the old emotions or sensations. You’ll be in the driver’s seat of your emotions, allowing them to inform you, not drive you. I can’t guarantee you success, but the research shows EMDR will progress toward healing, but it will not progress further toward dysfunction (though things might feel worse before they feel better). I am so hopeful for you and your journey! If you are ready to get to work in a compassionate, caring, and oftentimes fun environment, contact me (Emily).
