Therapist Overview
Has anxiety taken over? Our past experiences are present and they impact our mood, behavior, perception, and relationships. It’s often an accumulation of little things that influence the ways in which we interact with the world around us. Inability to manage emotions is a common complaint, and knee-jerk reactions become the norm. Maybe you believe that others are judging you. Overthinking situations and frequently seeking reassurance might sound familiar. Worrying makes it hard to enjoy life and relationships. Feelings of shame and self-doubt hold us back. Rigid, self-imposed, or out-dated expectations can lead to disappointment. The past is present. Distressing events are not limited to war, sexual abuse, and near-death experiences. Experiences of being humiliated or left out, conflict, emotionally difficult parents, sudden life changes, infidelity or betrayal, and even a nasty comment can impact us. They cause anxiety, depression, negative behaviors/reactions, and low self-esteem. I utilize evidence-based, effective treatment modalities including EMDR and CBT. Don’t wait for things to get worse. Wishing the day would just end or waiting for a “better time” to engage in life isn’t thriving, it’s merely existing. If the way you’re living isn’t working for you anymore, please reach out to me. You do not need to live like this anymore.
