Therapist Overview
I work with people that are struggling. The struggle may show up as stress, anxiety or depression. Or it may be in behaviors like drinking, using, or isolating – they understand these behaviors are not helping but just can’t seem to stop or change them no matter how hard they try. These problems may also carry the nagging sense that something, maybe something that started long ago, just doesn’t seem right – and they are ready to do something about that. Of course knowing what one wants is not the same thing as knowing how to get what one wants, and this is where therapy may be the missing link for making true and lasting change. Narrative therapy is the foundation of my approach. I will help you retell the stories of your life with greater compassion and insight. This opens up new understanding and uncovers previously hidden problems that we may give healing attention – often by re-balancing the relationship with the problem or by using traditional therapies like CBT, DBT or SFBT. Therapy is an act of radical courage and self acceptance. Together we can explore your life journey so far and re-author your story to bring fresh perspective from this shared re-witnessing, increased depth from a more psychologically informed point of view, and greater freedom because truly knowing one’s self is the first step toward healing and changing.
