Therapist Overview
I provide individual psychotherapy from a psychodynamic perspective. This means that therapy focuses on getting to know you in a deep way–your history, your needs, your strengths and weaknesses, and how you’d like to lead your life. Really, we’re both getting to know you, since this type of therapy serves to help you get to know yourself in a new way, and to help you use new insights to better address problems in your life. This isn’t the old-fashioned Freudian silent treatment! It’s relatable, evidence-based, trauma-focused, and produces long-lasting change. While I consider myself a clinical generalist, I also specialize in issues rooted in my academic interests. One of these is working with people of color, and particularly mixed race and multicultural people; another is in working with complex trauma and related issues, including personality disorders. I hold faculty appointments at the Smith College School for Social Work and the Lesley University Division of Expressive Therapies
