How can I be helpful to you? The main approach I use in my work is one of collaboration, with a deep respect for the unique qualities of each individual client. The kind of psychotherapy I do is often called “Relational” and it is grounded in contemporary psychodynamic principles and research. A basic premise is that our relationships with others have a profound and enduring influence on our feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. How this is playing out in the here and now is often what brings people to therapy. Because the past often reinvents itself in the present, exploring and discovering your personal history is an important part of the work that we will do together in an attempt to understand, “how did I get here?” and, “what am I going to do about it?” Usually this means exploring and finding the right approach and process in therapy which will work best for you.
