Therapist Overview
It’s tough to use words to describe the work of psychotherapy. As such, I like to analogize it to art and poetry, where its interpretations are varied, nuanced and deeply personal. It may be hard to accept that like life, psychotherapy and art may not have linear progressions toward results. Sometimes life may appear confusing, overwhelming, or just hard for no apparent reason. With the belief that all struggle is for our eventual benefit, the real work is in uncovering your diamond in the rough. This brings to mind a poem I love by Wendell Berry: “It may be that when we no longer know what to do we have come to our real work, and that when we no longer know which way to go we have come to our real journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed. The impeded stream is the one that sings.” I practice psychodynamic and somatic orientations; this means words, behaviors, or body language can be gateways into the unconscious. I have been trained in a variety of clinics and a psychiatric inpatient hospital where adolescents and adults are at their most vulnerable. About Me: I have a strong spiritual practice and I love all forms of dance.
