Therapist Overview
I am a bi-racial, bi-cultural psychotherapist who has extensive experience working with multiple marginalized states of otherness, including pansexual and gender non-conforming identities. I work psychodynamically, but more specifically from a trauma-based, attachment/ object relations modality. Within my training, I also integrate anti-racist, critical and feminist theories, as well as behavioral strategies. I am heavily invested in the current socio/political paradigm and social media, largely because I see how the internet can serve to amplify avoidance strategies and create psychological ill health. I have a warm, collaborative, and playful spirit within the therapeutic encounter, welcoming thoughts big and small, important and (seemingly) mundane, as being part of the puzzle that make up your inner psychic life. Attentive listening, active dialogue, radical curiosity, and detailed inquiry are the cornerstones of my practice. I believe in tangible results, and that action is as important as insight, such that one without the other often doesn’t produce the results we hope to see. It is through insight that we develop the courage to take action, and it is through action and lived experience that we can develop our insight and self-awareness.
