Therapist Overview
Working with adolescents and young adults transitioning out of the foster care system for five years taught me a great deal about the importance of support during life transitions. The young people I worked with moved from one environment to another frequently and had to develop the capacity to adjust to a lot of changes in a short period of time. The lessons I learned from working in the foster care system helped me to develop a method of assessing what is good in a person’s life as a strategy to leveraging desired change. I believe that the foundation of change begins with a focus on what is going well. I have specific training in narrative therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and dream work. I am particularly interested in assisting people through the adjustments needed during life transitions including grief and loss. Occasionally, life transitions can become overwhelming and brief therapy can be helpful. If you are looking for support as you are adjusting to one or more life transitions I hope you get the support you deserve. One of the most important aspects of effective psychotherapy is that you find someone you can trust. I wish you the best as you search for a therapist who will help you to achieve the goals you have for yourself.
