Therapist Overview

I help people of all ages deal with the after-effects of traumatic experiences, ranging from personal loss, to destructive relationships, and emotional and physical interpersonal conflict. I use a multicultural approach to therapeutic interventions which is informed by my life’s journey as a professional in multiple disciplines. Sometimes we find it hard to cope with a stressful situation, a complex relationship, or a traumatic event. We feel overwhelmed, vulnerable and unable to see what our options are. Our coping mechanisms become exhausted and no longer function effectively. I have completed academic research in sex education, bullying, and trauma; I have had numerous academic papers published; and have lectured on trauma at the UCF Burnett Honors College. My approach in therapy is grounded on a strong theoretical understanding. I use knowledge of the body’s autonomic response to threat or safety, as the foundation for therapy. I deeply respect the unique experiences and path taken by each client, and I aim to address both cognitive and body-based memories. In therapy, I aim to assist clients to understand their behaviors, identify and use their own strengths, and to develop better coping skills. Personal growth is a lifelong journey, and I want to help.
