In my work with clients, I’m often amazed at the burdens people can carry and keep going. But as strong as most people are, almost everyone is familiar with the feeling that some part of their strategy for living isn’t working anymore. Many different situations can act as indicator lights that some part of your life needs your attention. Whether this is something external like a failing relationship or something internal like a growing feeling of emptiness, the bottom line is that you know within yourself that something needs to change. Counseling is a series of productive conversations focused on who you are, the problems you’re experiencing, and the parts of those problems which are within your power to change. This process takes courage and vulnerability, and it can’t happen without a trusting relationship with a counselor. It’s my job to create that accepting environment with you. Finding a therapist you like and can trust is a matter of individual preference, which means not every therapist is going to be a good fit.
