Hi there! I’m Joshua James Backens, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based in Peoria, Arizona. With a Master’s in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University and a Bachelor’s from Arizona State University, I’ve dedicated my career to helping individuals achieve better mental health.
I am the proud owner of Valley Psychiatry, providing psychiatric care for populations 6 and up. I offer medication management and therapy services, addressing everything from depression and anxiety to substance use disorders and serious mental illness. My background also includes significant experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs, where I provided mental health support and medication education to veterans.

Through Valley Psychiatry services, I can provide supportive psychotherapy and medication management across the lifespan, beginning at age 6.
