Therapist Overview
** practice full** I enjoy working with adults on an individual basis, especially those with symptoms of depression and anxiety (including panic attacks, fears of specific things, social situations and perfectionism). I have been treating depression & anxiety for approximately 25 years. My approach is primarily Cognitive Therapy, meaning that our thoughts often create uncomfortable feelings and emotions, and that if we can lean to identify, challenge, and change our thinking patterns, we can learn to feel less depressed, anxious. Cognitive Therapy is more than “just think happy thoughts”; changing your cognitions is a skill everyone can learn. My favorite saying: “Thoughts are not facts!” Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) also addresses behaviors that keep us in the same old thinking patterns-please see the photo of CBT psychotherapy explained! I am always happy to speak on the phone before you schedule an appointment, to make sure your specific situation is a good “fit” with my skill
