As a licensed mental health counselor I have spent the last several years helping children and adolescents, as well as their families, overcome those initial stages of resistance and discomfort and progress in therapy in a way all parties felt benefitted and accomplished. My experience with children and their families has been that through an eclectic and mutually respectful approach changes can be made to better everyone’s lives. My experience has taught me to engage in therapy with such evidence-based techniques as CBT and DBT to treat a variety of individual and interpersonal complaints. Most specifically I have worked with children ranging from 8-18 years old managing feelings of anger and sadness, and through therapy learned ways to cope and deal with these internal feelings. Each individual is different, and so during the course of therapy we discover which techniques work best to your personality and complaint, and through this flexible framework make progress. Other experience includes working with families and adult individuals.
