Life in the time of Coronavirus; we’re living through a historic global health crisis that’s indescribably stressful. The blindingly fast pace of life has come to a grinding halt. We’re accumulating losses, some more than others. Everyone’s survival stress and anxiety about sickness, death, insecurity, uncertainty and loss have come roaring to the surface. If you have pre-existing PTSD, depression, OCD or anxiety, you may feel particularly affected. You may find you’re relying more on compulsive behaviors to cope with stress. While it may feel surreal, this is actually a great time to start therapy. Therapy offers a radical solution; a place to retreat, to slow down and explore difficult questions, complicated feelings, conflicted tangles in our psyche, our private hopes and dreams that get lost in the shuffle of the relentless stress of life. My approach is warm, engaged and practical. I want therapy to feel meaningful and useful. While I’m endlessly curious about whomever walks through my door, I work well with people struggling with weird eating patterns/body image issues, working through complicated grief (no matter what the loss is), women wading through the stormy transition of menopause, or anyone who self-identifies as an outsider.
