Therapist Overview
Amy has been working as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for over 8 years with an underlying curiosity and hope for more in the way of true connection to the self and the other with a focus on trauma and attachment related issues. Connection, as she found it, is much more than problem solving and communication skills, but rather an ability to feel safe, secure and seen. She began her practice in community mental health and has worked with adults, adolescents, children, parents and families. It was during this time she observed the typical approach to treating anxiety and depression seemed to, in a sense, “stop the bleeding but not heal the wound itself.” It was at this time, Amy began her training in EMDR in order to empower her clients to safely reprocess and heal from the wounds that seemed to later reveal themselves as anxiety and depression As an EMDR trained therapist, Amy has seen how EMDR therapy can help people move through emotional blocks with increased awareness
