Therapist Overview
Trained as a couples and family therapist in the early 1980’s I specialized in substance abuse, depression and anxiety disorders. I completed training between 1990 and 2015 in psychodrama, Somatic Experiencing and Integral Somatic Psychotherapy all of which are excellent treatment modalities for traumatic experiences from early childhood on throughout a person’s life span. My approach is shaped by several perspectives. 1) We are human beings with a body always guided by a fight/flight mechanism that creates the experience of stress. 2) We grow up in families that have shaped our coping styles that successfully allowed us to manage our childhoods but sometimes become ineffective as adults.
