Therapist Overview
Whether you identify as an addict or are a concerned family member watching someone struggle with addiction, I understand that frustration can feel overwhelming. I use a nonjudgmental and caring approach that includes skills-based training for recovery from substance abuse based on your values and goals. I will work to develop coping skills, identify triggers and urges, and build insight into the addictive patterns that appear tough to break. I am a firm believer that addiction does not occur in the absence of emotional anguish. Maybe you use in order to quell anxiety, detach from traumatic memories, or to simply feel something at all. I’m a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor, trained in DBT. I understand it is difficult or scary to share reasons behind addictions; I will make you feel comfortable in an environment where freedom of speech, humor, and nonjudgmental attitudes are encouraged. I incorporate skills, visual media, and music to treat from an eclectic approach.
