Tonia Smith – N. W. Family Psychology

Tonia Smith, MS, LMHC holds a Master of Science (MS) Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Tonia has life experience dealing with a family history of death, divorce, terminal illness, and alcoholism. Tonia enjoys working with clients suffering from anxiety and depression, boundary issues, chronic pain, codependence, divorce, narcissism, neurocognitive disorders, relationship conflicts, schizophrenia, shame, and suicidal ideation. She expresses to those she works with that our past does not define us; it is what we do with our circumstances that molds our character. Tonia passion is to provide counseling through an existential approach by finding meaning in life from suffering and increasing awareness and potential for choice (e.g., Viktor Frankl/Irvin Yalom) who believe purpose and authenticity are at the root of human behavior. Tonia believes as Nietzsche that “He who has a why to live can bear with almost any how.” Tonia is accepting new on-site clients at NW Family Spokane (telehealth via HIPAA-secured video platform).
