Therapist Overview
I work relationally and collaboratively with clients to identify and move beyond limitations and challenges, be it patterns in behavior, relationships or communication that may be barriers to a more authentic self. I believe intrinsic to this process is the discovery/strengthing of inner resources to increase resilence. I integrate components of psychodynamic/cognitive behavior/dialectical behavior therapies. Mindfulness is an integral part of my approach. I am interested in incorporating the body’s wisdom into therapy, particularly how it intersects with spiritual/psychological awareness that fosters healing/personal growth. Somatic Experiencing (SE), a body-oriented approach for culmative stress and trauma has increased my understanding of the physiological and psychological effects of stress and trauma, and our innate ability to heal from it. My many years as a meditator and yoga teacher also inform my therapy practice. I see individuals with a variety of challenges such as anxiety, depression, developmental trauma, grief/loss, life transitions, and relationship issues, and believe in the inherent potential for each one of us to grow, transform, and increase well being.
