Therapist Overview
Life transitions can be an overwhelming experience. Changes within relationships, school/ work positions; shifts in family systems, i.e. a new child or struggling marriage; or managing stress involved with parenting/ care-taking. Transitions may lead one to feel unprepared, discouraged, or unheard. With personal experience, in addition to working in the field of mental health and addiction, I have worked to help individuals in navigating through these changes. My hope is to provide support to you/ the family in establishing a better understanding of one’s needs, as well as identifying personal and interpersonal struggles. I help to assist individuals in gaining insight around experiences that have impacted their life, focusing on the narrative that maintains dysfunction, all while educating them on skills to help manage symptoms. With couples/families, I further support each member in feeling heard and allow for understanding of individual needs within the family unit. Dysfunction is manifested from a maladaptive narrative that is maintained and enabled throughout life. With a non-judgemental, empathetic and direct approach, I will help you to recognize the story in which you live, identifying the roles you have taken on, and supporting change through understanding and healing within the self and the family.
