Therapist Overview
Many of my clients come to therapy for help in getting along better with people. It may be with their partner or spouse, friend or parent or boss – but they are experiencing a painful disconnection. I believe our need for attachment is human and universal and that much of the pain in our lives is from when there’s disconnection in that experience. I’ve also come to believe that the therapeutic relationship can be reparative in many ways, such as helping to figure out ways to develop more satisfying connections. I’ve had over 40 years of clinical experience working as a therapist. Some of the areas I’ve had experience with are: relationship issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, grief and loss issues, and alcohol abuse. I work from a psychodynamic and relational perspective. I hope I welcome clients in a curious, non-judgmental, and non-shaming way. I listen to and get to know what is unique about each client’s life and experiences. Together, we figure out what is working and not working. Sometimes this process is short-term, but often the process can take longer to unfold. I respect how much a client wants to share and how long a client wants to be in therapy and what they want to change.
