Therapist Overview
Throughout our lives, we will be faced with innumerable internal and situational challenges that can leave us feeling depleted, discouraged, and stuck. At times, the wave-like intensity can threaten to overwhelm us. Mindfulness-based counseling offers an opportunity for clients to access their strengths and learn new skills to obtain clarity about the sources of distress, engage effective practices for altering how one relates to that distress, and move purposefully toward valued goals. I have primary experience working with clients dealing with grief, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based intervention which utilizes mindfulness practices to help clients change their ways of relating to thoughts and behaviors, and refocus on valued goals. I also employ an eclectic group of strategies from various counseling perspectives to help clients attain their goals effectively.
