Therapist Overview
I’m interested in treating adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, suicidality, or who are struggling with relationships. The experience of being an adolescent can be painful and confusing as a transition from childhood to adult ways of thinking and feeling. During this important process, talking to someone sets the framework for how you see yourself for the remainder of your life. I emphasize the impact of guilt and shame feelings on your self-concept. Actively defining a sense of self combats the impact of the often negative feelings that we accept or direct toward ourselves. The therapy experience encourages us to embrace a range and depth of feelings and thoughts at work that can be difficult to access alone. I honor and respect the relationship with my clients, and invite clients to join me in a mutual process of discovery and questioning. I am mostly psychodynamic in my approach, and I prefer to work with clients in-depth. I graduated from Seattle University with a Master of Arts in Psychology. I have provided therapy for fifteen years, and I am a licensed mental health counselor in the State of Washington. I am the owner and director of Community Care, a private mental health agency, which has treated youth for twenty-two years.
