Therapist Overview
I have always been interested in understanding the world from other people’s points of view. I realize that every person sees the world from their own unique perspective and that we are all shaped by the lives we have lived and how we chose to tell our stories. Sometimes we experience things in life that we don’t know how to handle on our own–or that we would like to handle differently. It is easy to get stuck and not know how to move forward! I view my job as a therapist is to help people see their problems from different perspectives and help them uncover the skills they need to make meaningful changes. My primary tool for helping people is Narrative Therapy–basically helping you shape your own “story” in life. I have many years of experience as a trauma therapist and have been trained in EMDR and Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT). I use many elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy in my practice as well. I know from experience that it is scary to ask a stranger for help. Just recognizing that you need or want to talk to someone about your problems is a HUGE step. I am happy to talk with you about my work and practice to see if you feel that I can help. (I usually respond more quickly to email than to voicemail.) I look forward to hearing from you!
