My primary focus is on alcohol and drug related problems as well as anxiety, depression, interpersonal and work-related problems. I have worked extensively with professionals but particularly with physicians. I was a Co-Founder and the Director of The Stanford Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, School of Medicine, Stanford University from 1985 to 2001 providing clinical services, teaching and conducting research. I retired and I have been in private practice since then with an office in the Market Hall in the Rockridge area in Oakland offering individual, couple and family therapy. Alcohol and drug problems lead to hopelessness, demoralization and isolation. My first step is to evaluate core problems collaboratively and to develop a plan to deal with them.
