Therapist Overview
Children and adolescents and their parents have been the center of my work for three decades. From this, I’ve built a developmental understanding of adult’s inner lives and how to treat and alleviate misery, pain, suffering and the vicissitudes of life in contemporary society. My ideal client is anyone who feels dissatisfied with her or his life and wishes to work to improve their present and future. I’ve worked with many different ethnicities — as Director of Child Psychiatry at a major children’s hospital, as medical director of the Family Mosaic in San Francisco, as Freud Professor at the Hebrew University and at the Hadassah Hospital. My books focus on developmental challenges and how to overcome them. Besides my background working with many ethnicities, my wife, Dr. Yikun Wu, is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese and available to translate and collaborate with families who prefer to work in these languages. We are also able to give parental counseling.
