Therapist Overview
I have found that people who want recovery and healing work very diligently to get it. These people may not be focused on wellness 100% of the time but in general, they follow through with the concepts and ideas given them in session or they continue to explore, in a curious way, how to do that. People need to belong somewhere, they need to feel safe, and they need to have a sense of self. Many people don’t have those things, for one reason or another (trauma, poor attachment, unhealthy family dynamics, alcoholism, eating disorders, etc). I like helping people in the process of discovering belonging, safety, and self-esteem. I am trained in EMDR, have received consultation for Internal Family Systems, and like using psychodrama in session. People need to reconnect with their bodies! The “mind-body-soul” is an incredible avenue for healing! I utilize Brene Brown’s shame resilience model frequently. I have extensive training in eating disorders and substance abuse as well. I believe that in order for me to help, I have to be where you are. Having been a client/patient in the past, I know the vulnerability it takes to open up to another professional; I know the courage it takes to practice the ideas suggested; I know the strength it takes to ask for help; I know the relief of finding hope.
