My 25-year medical background helps me understand and communicate the effects of your medical problem on your psychology and emotions. As a cancer survivor, I empathize with the often subtle but sometimes profound changes in how you view the world, your relationships and yourself. Whatever the therapies we use, I work to create a trusting relationship with you as the key to successful therapy. I use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) as a core therapy because it has been shown to be effective with a wide range of problems. For chronic illness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is effective. For grief and loss experiences, Meaning-centered Therapy and Grief Task therapy are very helpful.
