It can be challenging to recognize your child has been feeling anxious and avoiding situations that used to be enjoyable. Kids may be worried and unable to shake increasingly uncomfortable thoughts. Sometimes, they make attempts to ward off potential danger that don’t make sense to those around them. Perhaps you’ve noticed your child frequently wash their hands, seek reassurance, confess, check things, or engage in other compulsive behaviors that seem excessive and illogical. Maybe you feel helpless that frequent accommodation and reassurance does not seem to make your child feel better. In order to help these symptoms fade into the background, I will team up with you and your child to work against the anxiety and/or OCD to help regain territory their life. I have a specialization in child and adolescent psychology and have received training in ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) through the International OCD Foundation.
