Amy Louise Cavazos

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Registered Art therapist. I draw upon relational-cultural, attachment, and family systems theory in my clinical work. I specialize in treating traumatic stress in children and adolescents. I served as a Child & Family Therapist within the Trauma Treatment Program at Children’s Research Triangle (CRT) from 2012-2018, taught graduate and undergraduate students in the Department of Art Therapy & Counseling at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 2017-2019, and entered private practice in 2019. Outside of counseling, I am an artist, mother of two, and spouse. Since earning a MA in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I have received training in several trauma-focused treatments including Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Integrative Treatment of Complex Trauma for Adolescents, and Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress.
