Therapist Overview
I deeply honor the therapeutic relationship by maintaining the conditions for trust, integrity, and compassion. Through a person-centered approach, I keep a non-judgmental perspective, free of criticism. As we work together, I will assist you in exploring various means to move forward and “unstick” yourself. This drives us in a partnership that serves your personal goals and individualized plan of care. A Rational-Emotive Behavioral approach to treatment allows you to confront self-defeating thoughts and behaviors and find concrete means to amend your existing “framework” for how you view yourself, others, and the world. I became a counseling for many reasons. In particular, my “rough go of it” early in life lead to me dropping out of high school and getting my “butt kicked by the real-world.” These unique first-hand experiences taught me the value of an education and the benefit of having positive influences and direction when navigating great interpersonal change. I earned my B.S. in Psychology from the University of Houston and an M.S. in Counseling from the University of Tennessee. I’ve worked as a high school counselor, in a community based mental-health treatment facility with youth and their families, and as a clinical therapist in an adult outpatient psychiatric hospital. Now I’m eager to work with you.
