Therapist Overview
I believe growth and change are natural to all people. But when depression, anxiety, stress and the lingering effects of difficult childhood experiences direct all our energy to protecting from and avoiding more pain and fear, the natural process of development is blocked. I believe it is my role to support you in freeing yourself from blocks to your development and achievement of your life goals. As a Drama Therapist and Clinical Counselor, imagination becomes the route to your true nature– courageous, curious, confident and connected. Together, we adopt an “as if” attitude to explore what’s possible. What goes on inside as thoughts, feelings, memories, images and perceptions can be brought out “as if” the therapy space is your ”inner landscape.” I adopt the role of supportive guide as we embark on an improvised journey of discovery where you can safely encounter self-doubt, negative self-judgments and unrealistic expectations. With courageous compassion we engage with these barriers in recognition of our common humanity.. Whether you are 5 or 65, we can harness the power of play and humor to safely master situations that otherwise stifle your natural development and rob you of the joy of relating to yourself, others and life’s challenges with authenticity and equanimity.
