Therapist Overview
My clinical practice is integrative in nature. As a social worker, my theoretical orientation is always informed by a social justice and a systems lens. I use a brain-based approach when developing treatment plans with my clients. I primarily use cognitive behavior therapy and motivational interviewing to target and help strengthen the prefrontal cortex. During sessions, I gently challenge clients’ cognitive distortions and guide them to actionable and measurable change. I also teach clients to incorporate strategies to target subcortical regions of the brain and address their own trauma or stress-related symptoms. Individuals often encounter strong feelings of guilt or shame associated with their diagnoses that can cause distress. Sexuality is a particularly complex domain that often impacts several aspects of a person’s life. Specific issues related to sexual dysfunction or sexuality tend to be ignored or not prioritized. Clinical Issues: sexual desire or arousal; Concerns with sex
