My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative and integrative, with a primary relational focus. What that means, for me, is that I value the therapeutic relationship as one of the most important vehicles for change. The problems in living that prompt people to seek psychotherapy often take the form of problems in relationships and I believe that, if we can understand and work through those problems in the context of the therapy relationship, that will facilitate understanding and meaningful change in other important relationships and areas of living. I have specialized training and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and trauma-focused approaches, and often integrate techniques from those approaches to support the development of skills to cope more effectively with stress, painful emotions and posttraumatic symptoms, and improve relationships and overall functioning.
