Therapist Overview
It can be so tempting to deny or fight against parts of ourselves we don’t like. But this rarely works. More helpful is learning how to relate to these parts with curiosity and compassion so they no longer hold us back from the changes we want to make. One of my jobs as a therapist is to help guide you through this discovery process using a variety of methods tailored to suit your particular needs. My style is warm, collaborative, and non-pathologizing. I’ve done many years of diversity work and welcome clients of all ethnicities and sexual orientations. As a long-time practitioner of Buddhist meditation, I can also offer this approach to interested clients. Meditation and mindfulness training can be especially helpful in learning how to relate with more equanimity to chronic difficulties and to problems that can’t really be “solved.”
