Therapist Overview
In addition to loss and life transitions counseling, I offer individual grief counseling to bereaved persons. As a suicide-bereaved mother myself, I offer traumatic grief counseling to parents and other bereaved persons. Because child loss can be so isolating, bereaved parents often find companionship in one of my groups to be a comfort on this difficult lifelong journey. Our death-averse culture leaves many bereaved people feeling isolated and lonely. While we cannot easily reverse the ways of our entire culture, we CAN meet with people who understand grief, firsthand. In the groups I facilitate, participants talk about their deceased child, cry, acknowledge one another with their presence. My education and my personal loss qualify me to companion bereaved parents. Everyone grieves in their own unique ways. Society wants us to be done grieving now! The bereaved can and must trust their own broken hearts to lead the way. I rarely advise: instead, I companion, support, acknowledge.
