Therapist Overview
I believe that our deepest hurts and heartbreaks have occurred in toxic relationships with others and it is through healthy relationships that these can be healed. I strive to create a safe, empathic setting where couples and individuals can begin to voice hurts and uncover the self-protective and self-defeating behaviors that prevent them from getting the close, loving connections that they want. I greatly enjoy joining with clients in the process of discovering new ways to communicate, resolve differences and create a new path towards intimate connection with partners and family. Over my 40+ years in couples therapy, I have developed a non-judging, non-shaming approach that responds to the discomfort and resistance that men in particular often feel towards therapy. I work a lot with addiction and recovery issues as these affect marriages. I believe in a present centered therapy that integrates cognitive, emotional and spiritual aspects within a “heart centered” dialogue.
