What is Positive Psychology?

Positive Psychology focuses on the positive influences in the client’s life, such as institutions, optimistic emotions, and character strengths.

Positive Psychology therapists believe that emotional and mental factors lead to happiness, so they help clients identify happiness from moment to moment.

Positive Psychology utilizes positive emotion, engagement, and meaning to enhance the client’s life. The therapist will ask the client to maintain a journal of positive experiences each day in detail. Keeping a gratitude journal helps rewire the brain, offsetting ruminations of negativity. The client becomes more attentive to their expectations and memories of events, creating a more balanced perspective.

One of the things life has taught me is to not believe everything you think because our mind can really play tricks on us. There is hope even when you think there is none. There are solutions even when you cannot see them, because you have more power than you know. Do you ever feel a little anxious, depressed or restless without quite knowing why? Maybe you know your role as a mom, dad, student...
On paper, everything is "fine." You're working to reach your goals, but you don't feel...satisfied. Instead, maybe you feel disappointed, lonely, or worried. Your energy and mood are off. It's tough to concentrate or make decisions. Maybe more and more irritates you, relationships feel tense, and you're starting to run lower on patience. You "should" be able to figure this out, but you can't se...

The two most important factors in effective psychotherapy are finding the right person with whom you can connect and knowing that the therapy is geared to your unique needs.
