What is Life Coaching?

Life coaching is different than mental health counseling in critical ways, but both types of specialists offer benefits. Life coaches typically can’t diagnose and provide treatment plans for mental health disorders. Counselors and therapists do. Life coaches help people establish goals, find motivation, and achieve those goals. Their focus isn’t on mental health. A life coach uses motivational techniques to help someone accomplish goals that are unique to them and their aspirations. A person would go to a life coach for guidance in establishing more meaning in their life.

How are you holding up? As we try to manage a shared crisis while also facing our own individual challenges, it is normal to feel overwhelmed, confused, frustrated, and/or helpless. Many are anxious, grieving, lonely, irritated, bored, or worried. I understand the interpersonal challenges amplified by social distancing, loss of financial stability, shifting roles in the household, and longing f...
"Mental health isn't a thing. Talking about feelings and experiences isn't going to help. Things will get better by just putting my head down and powering through. I'm strong, self-reliant, and I don't need any help. I'll be fine just the way I am." These are all valid thoughts and feelings for an individual to have and many people believe these statements are true. Stereotypically, men...
