Asperger’s Syndrome is a developmental disorder that may affect a person’s social skills and interpersonal interactions. Asperger’s can manifest in limited facial expressions, specific patterns of behavior and/or interests, sensory stimulation differences, and distinctive strengths such as intelligence or memory. It falls under Autism Spectrum Disorder. Individuals with Asperger’s may choose to go to therapy to work on social skills to improve their interactions.

Available Treatment Options

Therapist interventions help people understand their emotions and their actions related to those emotions, which can help people living with Asperger’s regulate their behavioral responses and understand themselves more fully.

Children diagnosed with Asperger’s can benefit from sensory therapy and occupational therapy to improve their responses to sensory stimuli, coordination, and balance.

People with Asperger’s may also benefit from speech therapy.
