Anxiety is a relatively common mental health concern that people may experience at various points. Certain life events, such as a new job, relationship, death, or birth can trigger a bout of anxiety. Other people have an anxiety disorder that clouds much of their day-to-day life. Counseling interventions for anxiety range depending on its severity.

Available Treatment Options

One of the most common approaches to therapy for anxiety is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), where therapists assist people in identifying unhelpful thought patterns and developing coping mechanisms that promote healthier behaviors. Other approaches include Exposure Therapy, where a person and their therapist work toward decreasing the anxiety surrounding a specific situation or thing by slowly exposing them to it. Mindfulness and relaxation interventions also are helpful for anxiety.

Feeling overwhelmed? Unsure of your path? I help individuals who care deeply about creating a life aligned with their values and sense of self. As a psychologist, I can help you understand yourself more fully and increase your...
The need to normalize therapeutic support, including all forms of mental illness, is ever-present today. Society does not always advocate for the individual nor does it provide freedom for the individual to advocate for themselves. Therapy can take many different forms for each individual, but it should always feel like a space to cultivate that relationship with self, discover a new kind of...
Although every experience is as unique as the person, most of my clients want a life worth living and have exhausted their resources and abilities to manage their symptoms through trauma. I want to help people overcome challenges, and to also develop resilience, strengths, and build lasting connections with those around them. The process of healing leads directly to a process of self-discovery,...

There are times in life when our experiences can leave us feeling isolated, alone, unloved and questioning whether we are "good enough." We may struggle to trust others or the world around us; doubting, hating, hurting or numbing ourselves in an attempt to alleviate pain. Experiences of trauma or significant stressors in our past can lead to continued pain in the present. I specialize in workin...
"We argue and argue but never resolve anything." Maybe you are very hurt and think, "I can't do this anymore". A couple's therapist listens (instead of passing judgment) and looks for facts (not the Problem Person). We study your communication patterns and ask for background information that could help solve today's conflicts. Therapists support your effort to improve a relationship, even if it...

At the Family Services Center I take a systemic and wholistic approach to all therapeutic services. What does this mean? Well instead of focusing on one person and their health I look at how all the different parts of a family are impacting that person and how that person is impacting the family and its members. I know that people don’t live in a vacuum and we influence and impact others around...
Relationships permeate every aspect of our lives, from our most intimate relationships at home, to our relationships with colleagues at work, and every type of relationship in-between. Often times through relationships we experience our highest highs and our lowest lows. The relationships and experiences we have often impact how we relate to others as well as how we see and relate to ourselves....
(Video Teletherapy being offered in response to COVID-19) I enjoy working with adolescents as well as adults who are suffering from depression, anxiety, traumatic experiences, and low self-esteem. It is important for me to get know my clients so that we can work together to develop a plan on how to improve any issues that may be present. Children don’t come with a user’s manual, although we sometimes wish they did. Each child arrives with a unique set of strengths and weaknesses, challenges and resources.
