A psychologist has a doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D.) in psychology. After graduate school, they complete a multi-year internship. They do not have medical degrees. So, although they can treat mental health disorders, they cannot perform medical procedures or prescribe medications. As a result, they typically work with a psychiatrist or other medical doctor.

If you’re looking for a psychologist you can use our vetted directory of mental health professionals to find psychologists in your area. Start your journey below.

When we feel overwhelmed by our feelings we often don't know how to cope. We might yell when we don't mean to or lack the confidence we need to succeed at work. We worry too much, think too fast or find it hard to motivate ourselves. Shame and guilt prevent us from thriving the way we deserve and so we ruminate on the past and can't imagine the future. I believe our ability to manage our feelin...

To be fully alive means to experience the whole gamut of human emotions, including the uncomfortable ones like anxiety, sadness, anger, and shame. Paradoxically, the more fully we feel our feelings, the less intense and problematic they become over time! My job is to help people develop the skills to better recognize, understand, and tolerate their feelings, and in so doing, expand their capaci...
