A psychologist has a doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D.) in psychology. After graduate school, they complete a multi-year internship. They do not have medical degrees. So, although they can treat mental health disorders, they cannot perform medical procedures or prescribe medications. As a result, they typically work with a psychiatrist or other medical doctor.

If you’re looking for a psychologist you can use our vetted directory of mental health professionals to find psychologists in your area. Start your journey below.

People often come to therapy when they feel stuck, unhappy, or when they feel the need to make a meaningful change in their lives. While suffering is part of being human, therapy provides an opportunity to address the causes of suffering that may interfere with our ability to fully attend to the things that matter most to us in our lives. In addition to genuine concern and empathy, clients have...
In psychotherapy, we work together to understand the meaning of your symptoms and the sources of your pain. To me, psychotherapy isn't about being SICK; it's about being BETTER. It's about getting out of your own way. It's about not taking responsibility for things you can't control, and about owning your own thoughts and feelings. It's about being able to tell the difference between logical thoughts and irrational feelings. Therapy offers no guarantees, but offers an opportunity to understand and be...

In some cases, that may be a very brief evaluation to diagnose or help differentiate between ADHD, Learning Disorder, mood disorder, etc. In other cases, a full neuropsychological evaluation may be warranted, e.g. to inform intervention or in special cases such as applying for testing accommodations. ...

Today we are faced with so many distractions that ask us to turn away from ourselves and our relationships. It’s hard to resist. Yet this leaves us feeling more stuck, isolated, angry, distressed, and injured. And I believe this makes therapy, and spaces like it, more important than ever; spaces in which we slow down to engage honestly with our past, present, and future. I see myself as your...
