A psychologist has a doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D.) in psychology. After graduate school, they complete a multi-year internship. They do not have medical degrees. So, although they can treat mental health disorders, they cannot perform medical procedures or prescribe medications. As a result, they typically work with a psychiatrist or other medical doctor.

If you’re looking for a psychologist you can use our vetted directory of mental health professionals to find psychologists in your area. Start your journey below.

My personal philosophy of counseling begins and ends with grace and a willingness to enter into an individual's experience alongside them. I entered this field because I feel that I have a genuine listening heart that desires to see people live as whole, fulfilled individuals. I believe in holistic healing that takes into consideration the whole person - physical, emotional, mental, and spiritu...
I enjoy working collaboratively with clients to develop goals and a treatment plan that fits their individual needs. During the first couple of appointments we will discuss the client's reasons for seeking therapy, their personal history, and what they would like to see change. I see my role as helping clients build their inner resources so they have the confidence, strength and sense of peace ...
ONLINE THERAPY: Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, down, and unhappy is no longer working or satisfying, it's exhausting! You've tried to solve this on your own (reading self-help books, listening to lectures or podcasts, and/or exercising). Yet, you're still feeling like things haven't improved as much as you'd hoped. Let's transform your current anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed feelings and...

Starting therapy is a leap of faith at a time when hope is scarce. It is an act of courage. I prioritize symptom relief and stabilization, but I believe that lasting change and growth stem from a deeper understanding of our histories, relationships, internal worlds, and motivations. I work best with people who are willing to take a risk and become curious about their own complexity. I believe...
As a psychologist, my aim is to help children, adolescents, and young adults meet their goals and make lasting changes. I am a licensed clinical psychologist at The Center for Stress, Anxiety, and Mood. I specialize in providing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for youth and adults with a range of issues including anxiety (OCD, GAD, Social Anxiety Disorder, Separation Anxiety Disorder, Phobia...
I enjoy working with adults, individually or in couples. Most of my clients struggle with anxiety or depression but I also have significant experience working with more severe and complex disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar. Therapy at it's core is about relationships. I suggest to my clients that when looking for a therapist they talk to 2 or 3 different therapists, to see who they fee...
I view individuals from a psychodynamic perspective (insight oriented approach that looks at past patterns and experiences and how they affect current relationships and behavior). However, I work with you based on where you are functioning and use a variety of therapeutic techniques. An effective working relationship is the most important factor in therapy and that is what we work on at the...
"Come talk to me" was my thought while watching a TV program in which the person's health was affected by their ability to manage stress. If you find yourself struggling to manage stress and cope with life's challenges, come talk with me. Sometimes we can find ourselves depressed or worried. I can help. Together we can figure out new ways for you to manage feelings of sadness and worry while al...

Many people come to me concerned that therapy cannot work for them. They feel hopeless, or discouraged, or worried that they are beyond help. In fact, some have had previous therapy experiences that have reinforced these fears. If that is your experience, don't give up hope. We will work together to create a treatment plan tailored to address your individual needs. I am an active and engaged...
I offer therapy for individuals, couples, and multi-partner relationships in the Bay Area from a feminist, sex-positive lens. As a social justice advocate and founding Co-chair of the American Psychological Association's Consensual Non-monogamy Taskforce, I have considerable experience supporting the non-monogamous, kink/BSDM, TGNC/NB, and LGBQIA communities. I also offer support for individual...
I am only offering services virtually through telehealth options at this time. In our day to day lives, it can be difficult to notice when changes occur until we aren't able to do the things we used to be able to do with relative ease. Similarly, we don't always notice a shift in our mood and how that shift may be affecting our overall well-being. The cause for these changes can be various...

One of the hardest parts of the therapeutic process is choosing the right therapist for you, and I hope to join you on your journey towards greater self-understanding, compassion, and insight. Many people come to therapy after experiencing emotional distress that has led them to feel overwhelmed and as though they have lost direction in, and control of, their life. In a safe and non-judgmental...
