Therapist Overview
There are times when we need someone to listen…when we need a safe space to talk, welcomed and heard by a compassionate listener. We all need to be heard. Our stories matter. Our feelings matter…Irvin Yalom, psychotherapist and writer, refers to the counseling relationship as one of “fellow travelers” navigating together the client’s story, finding the answers that lie within you…Taking the step to start counseling is not easy. My approach is gentle, respectful, curious, compassionate…we go at your pace, based on your interests, strengths, needs, and preferences. I have worked in community mental health and private practice for the past thirteen years. My focus is adults with depression and anxiety, adapting to life transitions, relationship with self and others, career exploration, mind/body/spirit connection, substance issues, spiritual and/or religious belief systems, death/bereavement, divorce, grief, loss. It can be daunting to think about addressing thoughts and feelings. Often, we find ways to distract ourselves from being with discomfort. Over time, holding and pushing down emotions gets exhausting and affects our sense of well-being. Perhaps it’s time to tell your story…Together, we can focus on you, travelling together along your healing journey.
