Therapist Overview
Offering Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) to treat PTSD in Seattle and Bellevue, Washington. The stellate ganglion is a control center for the sympathetic nervous system and a conduit for PTSD triggers. SGB is low risk and uses a thin needle to block the sympathetic nervous system contribution in PTSD patients, so triggers can be reduced or even eliminated. With a reduction in sympathetic overdrive, patients are better able to engage in the psychological work related to trauma events and PTSD. **SGB is an adjunct treatment to be used in addition to traditional mental health care. It is not intended as the sole treatment for PTSD.** The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Psychiatry recently published first multi-site, randomized control trial of the use of SGB to treat PTSD. The results show that two stellate ganglion blocks two weeks apart can help reduce symptoms related to PTSD. “60 Minutes” also featured SGB for PTSD.
