Therapist Overview
I earned a master’s degree in clinical counseling from Northwestern University and went into counseling because my life experience put me in a unique position to help adolescents and adults overcome difficult circumstances in their lives. I’m a husband, and father of three, who endured ceaseless adversity before finding a safe place to explore my past, present, and future. This was the beginning of my healing journey and the first time, in a long time, I’d felt hopeful. Today, I spend my time walking alongside clients who are having difficulties coping with the trials and tribulations of daily living. I don’t believe in a client and counselor hierarchy. I prefer to think of us as fellow travelers on separate, yet similar, journeys to attain a balance of purpose, pleasure, and mastery. My specialized training is in psychodynamic therapy for depression, anxiety, PTSD (trauma), addiction/substance abuse, chronic pain/illness, and life/career transitions. Stepping outside one’s comfort zone is an important, and universal, factor in personal growth- but it’s intimidating. Seeking counsel from an unbiased clinician, who is removed from the chaos, often helps to foster the self-awareness necessary to enact healthy change.
